Prior to Jim being elected to the County Council, he served in the Washington State Legislature for the 2nd legislative district from 2005-2013, and prior to that he was in the house in 1998. He was active on the General Government Appropriations and Oversight Committee, Joint Committee on Veterans' and Military Affairs and Transportation Committee just to name a few. Jim's career began over 44 years ago as a provider of Copper River Salmon products in the private sector. Jim served on the board of Prince William Sound Aquaculture Corporation (PWSAC) for 12 years. PWSAC has 5 world class hatcheries in Alaska. These hatcheries are privately owned and operated, creating over 2,500 jobs directly and indirectly, contributing millions of dollars in the Pacific Northwest.
