The Building Division is a service division of Pierce County government. As such our goals are two fold:

• To enhance the quality of life within Pierce County by responsive, ethical enforcement of building codes intended to provide minimum standards to safeguard life, limb, health, property and public welfare by regulating and controlling the design and construction of structural, fire and life safety, mechanical, plumbing, energy conservation and accessibility features of the structures built within this jurisdiction.
  
  
• To work in partnership with all applicants to process their applications smoothly, and deliver helpful plan reviews and inspections. Keeping in mind our first goal, plan reviews and inspections should always be approached from the concept of "How can I help this review\inspection pass, and if corrections are needed how can I provide clear guidance for the review\re-inspection".
