Thun Field turns 65

Celebrate Thun Field's 65th anniversary on Friday, Sept. 18 with live entertainment, refreshments, historical displays and antique aircraft.
The free open house will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Pierce County Regional Airport, located at 16715 Meridian E. St. in Puyallup.
A new memorial to airport founder John Thun Sr. will be dedicated at 10:30 a.m.
The 200-acre airport was built in 1944 and purchased by Pierce County in 1979. Today, Thun Field is home to about 225 aircraft and has approximately 108,000 take-offs and landings each year.
