Workshop focuses on funeral planning, costs and options

Thursday Sep 24 2009 10:34 AM

The worst time to plan anything is in the middle of emotional upheaval. Planning a funeral in the midst of family grief often proves to be an overwhelming task for those left behind.

The Pierce County Aging and Disability Resource Center will offer a free informational workshop on planning for funerals on Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. at the Soundview Building, 3611 S. "D" Street in Tacoma. The event will cover advanced planning for funerals as well as dealing with the myriad details after death.

Please RSVP by calling 253-798-8787.

"The Basics of Funeral Planning" will touch on essential issues that families will need to face:
- Pre-Planning and pre-paying
- Funeral providers
- Funeral costs
- Services and products
- Cemeteries and mausoleums
- Funerals and memorial services
- Consumer protections
- Follow-up services for families

The workshop will provide basic and impartial information about funeral planning, services that are offered, costs that are involved, what is required by law and what is optional. This is a strictly informational event.
