Tacoma Narrows Airport one-day closure

Pierce County's Tacoma Narrows Airport will close for one day, Friday, Oct. 9, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. to restripe a runway.

Since acquiring the airport at the end of 2008, the county has worked to make upgrades and repairs throughout the facility. Current runway markings are not as visible as they should be and re-striping will increase visibility for pilots and ground crews.

A notice to pilots (NOTAM) of the closure has been filed with the Federal Aviation Administration. Closure signs visible from the air will be placed at the end of the runway while the work is being performed.
