Public safety, criminal justice budget hearings today

Some of the officials in charge of public safety and criminal justice in Pierce County will testify today before the County Council on the 2010 budget.

As part of two weeks of Committee of the Whole meetings that began Oct. 21, the sheriff, corrections chief and emergency management director will present this morning beginning at 9 a.m. The assigned counsel director and District Court presiding judge will follow at 1:30 p.m.

All hearings are in the Council Chambers (930 Tacoma Ave. S., Room 1045, Tacoma) and are broadcast live on Pierce County TV (channel 22) and at www.piercecountytv.org. Check the council's weekly schedule for the most current times and topics.
