Six council budget presentations today

Today promises to be among the busiest days of Pierce County Council budget hearings when representatives of the parks, risk management, information technology, community services and health departments present to the council.

Parks and Recreations Services Director Kathy Kravit-Smith, Acting Risk Manager Mark Maenhout and Interim Information Technology Director Linda Gerull start the morning Committee of the Whole session beginning at 9 a.m. In the afternoon, presentations by Community Services Director Tom Hilyard - which will include the WSU Cooperative Extension program - and Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department Director Dr. Anthony L-T Chen begin at 1:30 p.m.

The hearings will be in the Council Chambers (930 Tacoma Ave. S., Room 1045, Tacoma) and are broadcast live on Pierce County TV (channel 22) and at www.piercecountytv.org. Check the Committee of the Whole schedule for a complete list of remaining hearings.

Final adoption of the 2010 budget is scheduled for Nov. 10 at the council's 3 p.m. weekly meeting. For more information on the council's budget process, visit the budget Web page.
