Beyond the Borders Connector
Beyond the Borders helps eligible residents access public transportation, medical services, employment, shopping, and social activities.

Do I need to make a reservation before I ride?
Yes. All riders must complete an eligibility screening to take advantage of the service. Contact:

Where are the routes located?
  1. Sumner with connections to Pierce Transit and Sound Transit 
  2. Spanaway with connections to Pierce Transit at the Wal-Mart on Mountain Highway
  3. South Hill with connections to Pierce Transit near Wal-Mart, Kohls, and Fred Meyers

Who can ride the Connector or demand response shuttle?
Youth age 12-17, senior citizens, people with disabilities, and people with low incomes who live in rural Pierce County may be eligible to ride the routed bus service. Demand Response eligibility is limited to:

  • Transportation to dialysis appointments (unlimited)
  • Work-related trips (maximum ride total of $500 per person per month)
  • Employment-related classes and internships (maximum ride total of $250 per person per month)

What does the Connector cost to ride?
There is no cost to riders. Use of the routed service is unlimited – riders can get on and off at stops throughout the community and ride multiple times each day.
