Tacoma Block Index & Donation Land Claim

The Pierce County Assessor-Treasurer's Office has compiled helpful information on Tacoma Block plat numbers, Donation Land Claims, and buildings located on U.S. Forest Services.

Tacoma Block Index (PDF Format)

The Tacoma Block Index is a list that contains all plats within the blocks of the City of Tacoma. The list is in block number order and indicates Quarter, Section, Township and Range, commonly referred to as QSTR. All blocks are Levy Area (Tax Rate) Code 005. All Tacoma Block Plat numbers are in the 200000 series. The block number is the last portion of the six digit plat number; i.e.: for block 7, substitute the last digit with the block #(7), the plat parcel number would be 200007 and for block 7717, the plat parcel number would be 207717.

Donation Land Claims (PDF Format)

The Donation Land Claims list contains description of claims established in the late 1800's. It is said that the settlers were offered 320 acres if the person was single and 640 acres if the person were married to draw more population to the territory in an effort to obtain statehood. The list is in alphabetical order by the name of the claimant and indicates the corners of the Land Claims by QSTR. Although these are often no longer accurate boundaries, the donation land claims are referenced frequently in legal descriptions and, therefore, still necessary to maintain.
