On March 4, 2008, the Pierce County Council adopted a revised Code of Ethics, Chapter 3.12. The Ethics Code requires registration and reporting by all county incumbents and candidates, department heads and lobbyists who lobby the county to influence legislation. The Code is intended to promote full disclosure of lobbying in order to protect the openness and integrity of the legislative process.
