To ensure that you receive your ballot in time to participate in each election, Pierce County has implemented a program that will enable us to email a .pdf file of your ballot so we can ensure that your ballot is received in time to be counted. This process has been used successfully in other Washington counties.

In addition to our email ballot program, we have several other options available to our military and overseas voters. Our military and overseas voter guide explains additional voting options in more detail.

Who can participate: Any member of the U.S. Armed Forces (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard), Merchant Marine and their dependents, commissioned corps of the Public Health Service and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Overseas Citizens are defined as U.S. citizens who reside outside the United States.

What is an E-ballot: Qualified voters will receive an exact image of their regular absentee ballot via email. The ballot will be returned using normal mail delivery.

When: E-ballots will be emailed and received by the voter approximately 30 days prior to the election. We want to ensure that you receive you ballot in a timely manner with enough time to vote and return it in time to be counted.

Where: Voters can receive their ballots anywhere in the world in a matter of minutes.

Why: We in Pierce County remain committed to ensuring the right to vote for our military and overseas voters. We will make every effort to give all Americans a voice in the democratic process and the opportunity to cast a ballot from anywhere in the world.

How: If you would like to receive more information about this program, send an email to mjohns6@co.pierce.wa.us or fill out the on-line form.
