HOT TOPICS:

  • Pierce County and its Citizens' Advisory Board announces the following proposed Block Grant budget and awards for funding year 2008: Budget and awards for Public Services and Physical Improvements.
  • Current allocations for the FY2007 CDBG/ESG program are listed on the Community Development Block Grant page. OUR PROGRAMS:

Our primary responsibility is to allocate certain federal and county funds to accomplish the division's mission. In other words, we provide money (but only under certain conditions). In performing our mission, we implement 3 major programs and issue & monitor contracts for other community activities. You are welcome to access information relating to each of these programs by clicking on the underlined program name. The information contains information relating to the programs, current approved activities, reports on past activities, the next application process, and an annual calendar of events.

PERFORMANCE MONITORING:

As a guardian of your public money we want to ensure it's properly spent to accomplish our mission. We utilize the county-wide Outcomes Based Performance and Evaluation Process (OBE) to monitor activity performance. MEETING SCHEDULES:

To help us in selecting projects to fund we use 3 different citizen committees. Unless otherwise specified all meetings are open to the public and are held in the Community Services Building Conference Room A, Lower Level, at 3602 Pacific Avenue in Tacoma. We sincerely invite the public to attend these meetings.
Special meetings will be identified below:

  • CDBG Program - The Citizens Advisory Board (CAB) typically meets the first Wednesday of each month at 6:00 PM plus additional evenings in January and February to hear applicant testimony. Click here for the 2008-09 CAB Schedule.
  • Violence Prevention Program - The Allocation Advisory Committee meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month from January through June at 6 PM. Additional applicant testimony meetings are scheduled as needed in April and May, on Tuesdays same time and place.
  • Tourism Promotion Program - The Lodging Tax Advisory Committee generally meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month from January through June at 2 PM. Additional applicant testimony meetings are scheduled as needed in May, on Wednesdays same time and place.
  • Special Meetings - Located at the Community Services Building.
