Planning
The Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan establishes DEM functions and responsibilities of local government and associated agencies and organizations. This plan is intended as a comprehensive framework for county-wide mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery.

The Mt. Rainier Volcanic Hazards Response Plan is a report is a plan for thoughtfully addressing and preparing for a volcanic-hazard crisis at Mt. Rainier prior to being under the pressure of an impending or current catastrophe.

The Mt. Rainier Mudflow Warning System was installed as a joint project between USGS Cascades Volcano Observatory and Pierce County Department of Emergency Management. Information on the warning system can be found at: http://volcanoes.usgs.gov

Mitigation
Any sustained action taken to reduce or eliminate long-term risk to people, property and the environment from the effects of both natural and man-made hazards.

Training
Pierce County Department of Emergency Management offers a variety of training from WMD Awareness Courses to ICS / EOC Interface to Rescue Systems Classes.
