Effective 8:00 a.m. Thursday - July 17, 2008 until further notice

A Phase 1 burn ban will go into effect at 0800 hours on Thursday July 17, 2008 and the fire danger moves to high for King, Kitsap, Mason and Pierce counties. The ban is declared by this office in conjunction with the Pierce County Fire Chiefs? Association and the Department of Natural Resources and in cooperation with the Fire Marshals in King County, Kitsap County and Mason County. This ban is prompted by forecasts calling for continued dry weather.

This burn ban applies to all outdoor burning except for small recreational fires in established fire pits at approved camp grounds or private property with the owner?s permission.

Persons with approved DNR burn permits may call 1-800-323-BURN for more information.

Fire Safety Burn Bans
Fire safety burn bans in unincorporated Pierce County are declared by the Fire Marshal during long periods of dry weather, normally during July through October. Notice of a burn ban is always given to the news media for broadcast.
