Pierce County Emergency Management offers a variety of training for our First Responders, Citizen Corps members, and High Risk Population agencies. Check the links below for information specific to each class.

Pierce County's TEW Training Committee meets monthly to allocate Homeland Security grant funds to specific training identified for one of the following areas:
- Critical Infrastructure Protection
- Citizen Preparedness & Participation
- Communications Interoperability
Our intent is to have as many from Pierce County as possible register early. Then a date is set that opens any available seats to our out-of-county partners. Those partners may register at any time and will be notified if seats are available. Registration information is included with each class description.

- ICS-300 and ICS-400 - To identify who needs ICS Training, view the ICS Fact Sheets from the NIMS Five Year Training Plan (Feb 2008 version). ICS-300 and ICS-400 Student Manuals may be downloaded for personal use.
- The Emergency Management Institute in Maryland offers Resident ICS Position Specific training. Travel, board, and ground transportation are usually covered by EMI with the participant paying for a meal ticket.
- DEM Portal training is also offered on alternate months. The DEM Portal is a secured website for Pierce County responders to access for Incident Management and/or planning, School Information, Infrastructure Information, Maps, and other tools.
- EOC Liaison training is offered quarterly. This is an opportunity for PC-DEM to meet with our First Responders and Contract City Liaisons to provide updated information about EOC activities, learnings from drills/activations, and allow for practice time with the available technology.
- Exercise Design Series - this is a series of short modules offered once over three consecutive months and each builds on the previous class discussions.
- All-Hazard Training for Schools - this all-hazard emergency preparedness program for schools is a series of 2-hr modules covering a variety of threats associated with Natural Disasters, Human Caused Disasters and School Violence.
- 2010 DEM University - Technical Rescue Systems I, Rescue Systems II, Rope Rescue, etc. available to First Responders throughout the year.

- American Red Cross - Rainier Chapter - Offers you convenience and value in safety training in First Aid, CPR, Bloodborne Pathogens, and Disaster Response.
- Emergency Management Institute - EMI offers both resident and non-resident courses and serves as the national focal point for the development and delivery of emergency management training to enhance the capabilities of federal, state, local, and tribal government officials, volunteer organizations, and the public and private sectors to minimize the impact of disasters on the American public.
- Independent Self-Study - FEMA's Emergency Management Institute offers a wealth of online self-study classes on a broad scope of topics.
- National Domestic Preparedness Consortium Partners - These agencies have contracted with ODP to provide training to First Responders across the country. In some cases, that coverage includes airfare, lodging, and/or meals to take First Responders to the training; in other cases, the training can be brought to Pierce County.
- DHS First Responder Website - DHS is committed to ensuring that emergency response professionals are prepared, equipped, and trained for any situation by bringing together information and resources to prepare for and respond to a terrorist attack, natural disaster, or other large-scale emergency.
- Grant Writing Best Practices Training - This is just one of many vendors who provide Grant Writing training. This is listed to provide an option for a class and is not an endorsement by Pierce County for this particular course.

Pierce County Neighborhood Emergency Teams (PC-NET) is a neighborhood-oriented approach to emergency preparedness and homeland security. It is based on the belief that a cooperative effort between a county and its citizens is the only sure way to protect a neighborhood and to prepare for a major disaster.

AWR-160-W - WMD Terrorism Awareness Free online class
The WMD/Terrorism Awareness for Emergency First Responders course was designed to provide the participant with knowledge of Hazardous Materials, Weapons of Mass Destruction and response to incidents involving these materials. This Basic course introduces the participant to topics such as Hazardous Materials and WMD recognition, the Emergency Response Guide, NFPA 704 marking system, and more. We offer this to our citizen volunteers to acquaint them with what to watch for as well as the need to maintain crime scene integrity as appropriate.
