JOB CREATION
Tacoma, Washington Phase III marks the completion of the Berk and Associates final report 'Pierce County Government Economic Action Agenda' that consists of six goals with action strategies. An interdepartmental team developed a work plan and timetable for full implementation.

In 2003, Pierce County commissioned a study to evaluate how it could most effectively help the local economy as an engine of job creation. 'Evaluation of Job Creation Opportunities, Phase I Final Report.'

As a follow-up to Phase I, Pierce County commissioned a study to evaluate how the local economy fits into the regional picture. 'Pierce County Economic Profile and Strategic Assessment, Phase II Final Report.'
AGRICULTURE
Recent changes to zoning and growth management policies have gone a long way in protecting soils with high agricultural value but Pierce County recognizes that preserving farms requires more than preserving the land. The County's Agriculture Strategic Plan identifies policy options for retaining a vibrant agricultural industry.
