Northwest Trade Adjustment Assistance Center If your customers have switched to buying imported products and you are a U.S. based manufacturer you may be able to increase your sales, employment and profits by developing a competitive strategy with help from the North Trade Adjustment Assistance Center (Northwest TAAC). Northwest TAAC is a private, nonprofit organization sponsored by the U.S. Department of Commerce and is a great proactive tool in the arsenal to help companies compete after the passage of NAFTA. The TAAC provides matching funds (up to 75%) in the form of grants to import-injured manufacturers. Monies can be used for developing strategies including marketing, lean manufacturing, quality assurance and information systems. Eligible companies must demonstrate a decline in sales or production of a major product, a decline in employment, and some evidence that the declines are due to competition from imports.
