Pierce County's LINX (Legal Information Network Exchange) application was awarded the Computerworld Smithsonian Award for 'heroic achievement in Information Technology and in recognition of visionary use of Information Technology in the field of government and nonprofit organizations.' It was presented to Pierce County on June 4, 1996 in Washington D.C.
