1999 NACO (National Association of Counties) Achievement Awards:

Map-Your-Way, Information Services, GIS division. This Internet geographic information application answers citizens' questions about property values and locations of parks, restaurants and other public facilities. Map-Your-Way not only supplies map information and analysis but also allows the maps to be navigation tools to a wealth of data available from the county.
Economic Development Website, Information Services, GIS division in cooperation with Community Services/Economic Development for an outside client, Tacoma-Pierce County Economic Development Board. Features a well-designed site architecture for a quick information access. An interactive mapping application allows users to visualize economic factors and conditions in Pierce County and produce custom maps and report on property. Companies and individuals from 12 foreign nations have visited the site more than 250 times in a single month and visitors are staying on the site 20 percent longer each month. The website is the definitive source for business information in Pierce County, which addresses a recommendation in Pierce County's strategic economic development plan, 'Partnerships for the 21st Century.'

1999 NACIO (The National Association of County Information Officers) Awards:

'A Social Engineering Network' written by John Loshbough, received a Superior award in the Promotional/Persuasive Writing category.
'The Netword' newsletter, published by PC & Network Services, received a meritorious award in the Internal Publications category.
The LINX Internet Site, developed by our Software Development division in partnership with Superior Court, received a meritorious award in the Computer Media category.
The Pierce County Intranet Site (OZ) led by Larry Gezelius, received a meritorious award in the Computer Media category.
Economic Development Strategic Information Center, developed by our GIS department in partnership with Pierce County/Tacoma Economic Development Board, received a meritorious award in the Computer Media category.
