The El Cid program is a diversion program for first time Felony and Misdemeanor offenders. It is designed for non-violent offenders who are alleged to have committed property crimes such as theft and embezzlement.

The El Cid program recently passed the thirty-first year mark. During that time more than 5,300 clients have been involved in diversion. Over 93% of the participants pay back any restitution they owe and do not re-offend. The program's success is based on an approach of promoting social responsibility and accountability while encouraging individuals to make positive lifestyle changes. Over 200 clients are under the supervision of the diversion counselors.
