First time juvenile offenders may be sent to diversion, which is a program that requires the juvenile to successfully complete certain requirements (determined by the diversion counselors). If a juvenile offender successfully completes the diversion program, the deputy prosecutor would not file charges. If a juvenile fails to successfully complete the diversion requirements, the deputy prosecutor will review the case for possible charges.
