Deferred Disposition
If a respondent enters into a deferred disposition, the court will order standard conditions which may include probation, community service, crime victim penalty assessment, and restitution (if sought by the victim). The judge will make the final decision whether a deferred disposition is an appropriate resolution. If all conditions are completed, the charge will be dismissed from the juvenile's record.
Plea and Sentence
A plea and sentence occurs when a respondent enters a plea of guilty and is not eligible for a deferred disposition. In this instance, the court may also order standard conditions and may order the juvenile to be held in custody in a Juvenile Rehabilitation Administration (JRA) facility. These facilities are located throughout the state and are not part of Remann Hall.
Victims may choose to address the court at a sentencing hearing or they may have submitted a victim impact statement, which will be reviewed by the judge at this time.
