2009 WORK PROGRAM

Brick Breezeway


1. Develop and consider new Countywide Planning Policies (CPP) to address:

  • Affordable Housing Strategy;
  • Adding language to the Natural Resource section related to the Shoreline Master Program updates;
  • Buildable Lands (as neccessary); and
  • VISION 2040.

2. Work with the PSRC Transportation 2040 policies proposal.

3. Work with the PSRC implementation of VISION 2040.

4. Develop an ongoing strategy by which the PCRC may advocate effectively for the funding of significant regional projects in Pierce County.

5. Make recommendations for transportation funding priorities to guide the TCC recommendation process; including Federal Recovery Act funding.

6. Review and make recommendations pertaining to Pierce County's Comprehensive Plan Amendments which includes modification to the UGA expansion criteria.

7. Monitor proposed changes to the WACs pertaining to the GMA requirements.

8. Review and approve procedures/recommend update to the Population Allocations.



1. Provide quarterly reports to the PCRC.

2. Support Affordable Housing CPP review and update.

3. Review CPP on Natural Resources with regard to Shoreline Master Planning and recommend updates as appropriate.

4. Provide support and technical assistance to the PCRC on amendments to the CPP as requested.

5. Continue to implement the Buildable Lands legislation and update CPP as necessary.

6. Provide recommendation on procedures and generate Population/Housing Allocations.

7. Update the CPP for consistency with VISION 2040.

8. Discuss updating Comprehensive Plans to be consistent with VISION 2040.

9. Review and provide recommendations on the 2009 Comprehensive Plan Amendments.

10. Review and comment on Draft WACs pertaining to GMA requirements.


1. Provide quarterly reports to the PCRC.


2. Review and update the Transportation Policies in the CPP and provide technical assistance to the PCRC on CPP transportation element amendments as requested.


3. Provide the PCRC pertinent information regarding regional and countywide transportation issues at the earliest possible stage, so the PCRC may take any action it deems appropriate in a timely manner.


4. Rate and recommend projects to the PCRC for any available funding.

5. Work with the PSRC on Destination 2030 Update, providing appropriate input.

6. Review and comment on Draft WACs pertaining to GMA requirements.
