Pierce County Human Resources has been recognized by the International Public Management Association for Human Resources (IPMA) with one of the IPMA-HR 2005 Agency Awards for Excellence for a Medium Agency. The IPMA presented four awards in 2005: one small agency award, two medium agency awards and one large agency award.

This award was presented to the Pierce County Human Resources Department for its innovative contributions and accomplishments. We have gone from being 'transactional' - where we simply process requests and apply procedures, policies and laws - to a department that actively partners with other departments to bring the best human resource services we can to our organization and employees.
