The
Employee/Labor Relations
division of Human Resources is responsible for:
collective bargaining
interpretation and compliance with
collective bargaining agreements
and the Administrative Guidelines for the Career Service
advising department directors and elected officials on labor matters
compliance with state and federal labor laws (FLSA, FMLA, the
Americans with Disabilities Act
,
Equal Employment Opportunity
, etc.)
managing employee discipline, discharge, and the grievance process and hearings
conducting misconduct investigations
unemployment benefits and hearings
negotiation and establishing employee
benefit levels
formulating and drafting County labor policies
training
managers and supervisor on labor issues
managing the Washington State Department of Transportation (DOT) and Reasonable Suspicion Drug Testing Program
representing the County before the Public Employment Relations Commission
