Archictect rendering of the East County Road Shop facility.
This new Pierce County satellite road maintenance facility will provide faster and more efficient service to east Pierce County area residents and roads and is an integral part in centralizing our operations.

How will the ECMF help improve County roads?

The East County Maintenance Facility will be one of three, strategically located satellite maintenance facilities that will respond to immediate road maintenance needs such as: snow plowing, removal of downed trees and mudslides, street sweeping and roadside mowing. This satellite will significantly improve response times in the east County area and will be the only Pierce County maintenance facility on the east side of the Mt Rainier lahar flow zone.

Where will the ECMF be located?

The ECMF will be located next to our existing gravel pit on the east side of Prairie Ridge Drive and 120th Street East, Bonney Lake. It will consist of 2480sf of office and crew space, 8 enclosed heated and unheated truck bays, and a fueling island for a cost of about 3.3 million dollars.

How will the ECMF blend into the neighborhood?

The ECMF is constructed and designed for residential appeal. The architectural design includes a cement masonry block wall to reduce noise to our neighbors. An attractive landscape plan is also included in the design.

When will the ECMF be completed and in operation?

Kassel Construction began work in July 2006 and is expected to complete the project in the summer of 2007. Daily staffing levels will be 8-10 employees daily with seasonal fluctuations.
