What will it look like?

The Central Maintenance Facility will be civic in character. The visual impact of the facility (as viewed from the south) is intended to be minimized by:

  • A 100-foot buffer zone
  • Landscaping in the buffer
  • Building floor elevation lower than that of the road

County grounds maintenance crews will maintain all landscaping at this facility.

Will the operations at the CMF be noisy?

We take our responsibility to be good neighbors very seriously at all our facilities. From inception, our design team has been working to identify and mitigate any impacts to our neighbors.

In fact, our goal is for this facility to be a leading example of a state-of-the-art neighborhood- and customer-friendly facility.

Currently, the plan includes: landscape screening and earthen berms, vehicle back-up warning beepers that utilize radar so that the alarm sounds only when there is an obstacle present, and changing our operations to minimize the transmittal of sound offsite.

Line drawing of CMF project schedule.
When will the project be completed?

Final building design and site grade work began in fall of 2005, and will be completed by early 2006. We began advertising the construction of the CMF for bid on May 17, 2006. This road project will be finished concurrent with the completion of the Central Maintenance Facility (currently anticipated in Fall 2007).

Why is the County requesting Temporary Construction Access?
  • This access enables construction of Canyon Road and the CMF to run concurrently.
  • Our construction management team has estimated eight large vehicles per day for the first three months of construction, followed by five delivery or construction vehicles per day through the completion of construction.
  • Upon completion of construction, the 200th Street access will be gated, locked, and used for emergencies only. Entrance to the Central Maintenance Facility will then be from the newly constructed 196th Street off Canyon Road.
