Word on the Street: Improvements to Canyon Road East (from 224th Street East to 200th Street East)

What's Happening
We're improving 1.70 miles of Canyon Road East from 224th Street East to 200th Street East (CRP 5123). Improvements, designed to increase transportation connectivity, include:

• Extending Canyon Road East to connect between 224th Street East and 200th Street East.
• Providing an interim three lanes of the future five lane roadway.
• Constructing sidewalks and paved shoulders for pedestrians and bicyclists.
• Providing signals at 224th Street East and 208th Street East.
• Realigning the intersection of Canyon Road East & 200th Street East to the north.

March 2008

• Engineering: We are in the Preliminary Engineering Phase of the project. Roadway alignments are being finalized. Work will begin soon on designing the storm water conveyance systems, retaining walls and signal systems.
• Land: The goal is to build all interim improvements within the existing right-of-way.
• Survey: Indentification of existing right of way limits and topography is complete.
• Geotechnical: Geotechnical investigations will be preformed to help determine the project retaining walls & stormwater facilities designs.
• Environmental: We are investigating potential wetland mitigation sites.

• January 2008 to June 2008: Complete Preliminary Engineering design plans, initiate environmental documentation.
• September 2007 to September 2009: Research, analyze, and acquire wetland mitigation site.
• July 2008 to December 2009: Complete Construction plans, specitications, and estimates.
• 2010 to 2012: Construction
