Word on the Street: Improvements to 86th Avenue East & 128th Street East Intersection

What's Happening
We're improving the intersection of 86th Avenue East & 128th Street East. Improvements designed to enhance safety and relieve traffic congestion include:

• Adding a left-turn lane in all directions.
• Adding concrete curbs, gutters, and porous concrete sidewalks.
• Adding an enclosed storm drain system as well as enhancing existing stormwater treatment and storage facilities.
• Adding a new traffic signal.

September 2008

• Engineering: We are in the Final Engineering Phase of the project. Roadway alignment designs are complete. We are now beginning the design of the traffic signal system, enclosed stormwater conveyance system, and enhancements to the existing stormwater treatment and storage facilities.
• Utilities: We are conducting on-going coordination with utility franchises to minimize impacts.
• Land: All right-of-way has been acquired.

• March 2009: Finalize plans and specifications for public bid advertisement.
• April 2009: Advertise for bids.
• Summer 2009: Construction.
