Word on the Street: Construction has begun on 94th Avenue East

What's Happening
Pierce County is improving 1.5 miles of 94th Avenue East from 136th Street East to 116th Street East (CRP 5532). Improvements, designed to improve safety and relieve traffic congestion, include:

Expanding to five lanes with a two-way left-turn lane.
Adding concrete curbs, gutters and sidewalks.
Adding an enclosed storm drain system as well as stormwater treatment and storage facilities.
Adding a new traffic signal at 136th Street East, improving the traffic signal at 128th Street East.
Improving street lighting.
Extending City of Puyallup's gravity sewer main and Pierce County's force sewer main.

The Latest
The Contract has been awarded to Ceccanti Incorporated.

Phase one of the Gravity Sanitary Sewer is complete.
Work continues on drainage systems and the retaining walls, which are almost completed.
Storm drains are approximately 40% complete.
The project is over 40 days into the 160 day utility window.
Tacoma Water, Firgrove Water and Fruitland Water are 99% completed. PSE contineues their relocation work and Qwest will follow.
Contractor hours are 6:30 am - 5:00 pm. Expect delays between these hours.

What's the schedule?

March 2008: The contract has been awarded.
May 2008: Construction begins.
October 2009: Anticipated Substantial Completion date
Fall/Winter 2009/2010: Anticipated Physical Completion date.
