What's Happening
Pierce County is improving approximately one quarter of a mile of Spanaway Loop Road (CRP 5664). Improvements, designed to improve safety and relieve traffic congestion, include:

  • Adding a left-turn lane for southbound traffic.
  • Shoulder and curb improvements.
  • Improving the existing enclosed drainage system and adding a stormwater treatment and storage facility.


July 2008

  • Engineering: Plans are complete.
  • Land: Right-of-Way acquisition is complete.
  • Contract Administration: The contract bid opening was held on Friday, May 30, 2008 and the contract was awarded to S&W Utility on June 21, 2008.


  • June 2003 to April 2008: Design engineering, environmental documents, plans and estimate.
  • August 2005 to February 2008: Property negotiations and acquisitions.
  • May 2008: Contract Advertisement.
  • Construction during 2008 to 2009: Majority of work during the 2008 construction season.


Additional information on the number of Contractors that bid on the project and what the detailed project estimates were will soon be available once the Contract is awarded.
