Word on the Street: Improvements to 22nd Avenue East/192nd Street East (Intersection)

What's Happening
Pierce County is improving the 22nd Avenue East/192nd Street East intersection (CRP 5670). Improvements, designed to relieve traffic congestion include:

  • Adding left-turn lanes for all directions and a southbound right-turn lane.
  • Adding a new traffic signal.
  • Adding concrete curbs, gutters and sidewalks.
  • Adding an enclosed storm drain system.

The Latest:

  • Work started June 16th.
  • This intersection reconstruction project is progressing smoothly. The roadway widening, including curb and gutter and base lift asphalt has been completed.
  • Currently, the contractor, Woodworth & Company is preparing to install sidewalks and the subcontractor, Totem Electric is working on the signal system.
