The Survey Section uses state-of-the-art technologies to provide horizontal and vertical survey control for Public Works and Utilities and other County departments;
Ensures preliminary data collected for transportation projects is adequate and accurate, and that transportation projects are constructed in compliance with the engineer's design by providing field control staking;
Determines correct location of County right-of-way;
Ensures correct legal descriptions for right-of-way vacations and annexations;
Establishes, perpetuates and maintains county-wide horizontal and vertical control program (Integrated Survey Control Utility Program); Public Lands Survey Control, (e.g. section and quarter corner control); and Aerial photography and contour mapping control.
Maintains data for the GIS-based Survey Control database, which includes information on the Continually Operating Reference System (CORS).
