A chipseal crew spreads liquid asphalt and a layer of rock chips to preserve the road.
Making roads last longer through preventive maintenance

Each summer, Road Operations crews perform road resurfacing projects including:

  • chipseals
  • slurry seals
  • grader patch
  • road base stabilizations

These projects require moderate to good weather and are sometimes delayed by weather or the availability of materials.

Our Pavement Management Road Surfacing Program brochure (PDF, 1.24 MB) explains more about the benefits of these projects.

Grader patching to prepare a road for chip seal.

While we try to plan all projects that will be completed in a summer, it's possible that proposed work may not be completed in time, or that additional projects may be added during the summer season. Our preventive maintenance activities may cause traffic delays.
