Removing a 'Junk Vehicle' from private property, where no title or ownership verification is available, requires a 'Junk Vehicle Affidavit' (JVA).
Three of the following four criteria are necessary for the issuance of a JVA:
1) Is extensively damaged. 2) Is apparently inoperable. 3) Is three years old or older. 4) Has an approximate fair market value equal to the scrap value.
Many tow operators will haul vehicles free of charge when the value of scrap metal is high, however, this is subject to change.
Any towing fee incurred would be paid by the resident or owner of the property where the public nuisance vehicle is located. Pierce County Responds may pay half of the towing fee for eligible vehicles through our Cooperative Abatement Program.
