The Hazardous Waste Facility is open Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8 a.m. to Noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. (closed 12 - 1 pm).

Accepts: antifreeze, automotive products, cooking oil, flammable liquids, fluorescent light bulbs, glues, household cleaners, motor oil (used), ni-cad batteries, oil-based paints, pet products, and yard and garden chemicals.

NOT accepted: 55-gallon drums, latex paint, asbestos, biological waste, compressed-gas containers, explosives, radioactive materials, waste produced by businesses (commercial waste).

There's no charge to dispose of hazardous waste, but you must show proof of Pierce County residency (such as driver's license).

The Health Department also has a process for limited disposal of some items through a Waste Disposal Authorization Form (WDA).
