When planning your event, it is very important to contact the Parks Admistrative office as early as possible to receive the most current information on the park of your choice. Many parks have unique requirements and may require a Special Use Permit.

Many of Pierce County parks and facilities are for use on a first come, first served basis. However, if you wish to be guaranteed a site, you may want to make a reservation in advance.

For your convenience, we have compiled a list of our most popular sites. Your picnic or facility reservation does not guarantee a field.

Our phone lines may be on a message machine during peak reservation periods because priority is given to walk-in customers. The Parks Administration Office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, except for holidays.

All fees must be paid in full in order to receive a permit. However, you are welcome to call the Parks Administration Office to check on the availability of dates and sites.

Payment

Payment is required upon reservation. Payment may be made by cash, charge, check, or money order. Make checks payable to Pierce County Parks. We accept Visa and MasterCard.

You may cancel your reservation any time. To receive a refund of any fees, you must return the permit and submit cancellations in writing to the Parks Administrative at the time of cancellation. Then a refund may be issued under the following guidelines:

  • If you wish to cancel a reservation up to 2 weeks before the event, you may receive a refund minus a $15.00 Cancellation Fee.
  • No money will be refunded if reservations are cancelled 14 days or less of the reserved date.
  • If you wish to reschedule a reservation at least 2 weeks before the event, you will be charged a $15.00 Rescheduling Fee. We allow you one opportunity to reschedule your event without addtional fees.

It is important to be on-site early, with your permit in hand.

Vehicle Access:
A Vehicle Access pass is not required because there are no parking fees at our County Parks, except Lake Tapps Park. A parking fee at Lake Tapps will be collected upon entering the park.

Alcohol Use:
It is unlawful to possess or drink alcohol in any Pierce County park.
Dogs:
Scoop and leash laws apply! All dogs must be on a leash no longer than 8 feet! Dogs must be under control at all times.
Music/Amplification Systems:
Keep radios and tape/CD players at a sound level that does not go beyond the area you have reserved. The use of amplification sound systems cannot project beyond the area you reserved and requires a Special Use Permit.
Recreation Facilities:
Ballfields, horse shoe pits, volleyball standards, and other facilities may be available at the park but not included in your reservation. You need to bring your own equipment. DO NOT drive stakes into the ground to set up games: you may hit buried electrical or irrigation lines. Use of stakes requires supervisory approval.
Barbecues:
You are welcome to bring self-contained barbecues into the park, however, they must be on legs a minimum of 6' off the ground. You are responsible for safe removal and disposal of the coals and grease outside of the park. Do not dump coals or grease in the parks.
Garbage:
Please leave your area clean and remove your garbage. Bring plastic garbage bags and pack your garbage out!
Misc:
Confetti, hot air ballons, remote control airplanes or vehicles are not allowed in the park. Dunk tanks must have supervisory approval and you must make arrangements to fill off site. Large inflatable toys require supervisory approval and a certificate of insurance.
