Woof Woof Walk

Come dressed in your favorite halloween costume and enjoy a beautiful walk at Pierce County Parks and Recreation's first ever Woof Woof Walk on Saturday, October 24th at Spanaway Park in the Parkland/Spanaway vicinity.

Woof Woof Walk Join the Pierce County K-9 for either the 1.5 mile or 3 mile route. Both routes are on paved trails that provide
a flat, easy walk suitable for families and people of all abilities.

Prizes will be awarded in the canine costume contest.
Plus registered participants will be entered into our
'ruffle drawing.'

The Woof Woof Walk takes you on the paved trails at Spanaway Park. As you enjoy the Walk take a look and enjoy the recent and new park improvements. The picnic shelters have been renovated, bathrooms updated, and the new play equipment added is fun for kids of all ages.

9:00-9:30 a.m.

Free seminar courtesy of K-9 NorthWest. Learn the basics of sit, down, stay, and leave it!

9:30-10:30 a.m.

Participants and their dogs will meet in the first parking lot of Spanaway Park to check-in and/or register. Please enter the costume contest during check-in/registration.

10:45 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

The Walk will begin and end on the trail at the entrance to Spanaway Park.


Walkers can park in the first two parking lots as you enter the park from Military Road then proceed as directed to check-in.


Pre-Registration (must be received by October 21, 2009):

  • $15.00 per dog
  • $5.00 for a second dog.
  • T-shirts are an additional $9.00 each.

Day of Event Registration:

  • $20.00 per dog
  • $5.00 for second dog
  • $9.00 T-shirts will be available as long as supplies last


From 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 pm, we will have vendors, complimentary pictures, as well as information on Pets & Water Quality courtesy of the Pierce County Water Program Division.
  • A complimentary 4x6 picture will be available for each participant courtesy of Sportraits.
  • A complimentary bandana will also be awarded to each dog while supplies last.


In addition to the Walk, we will be accepting food and blanket donations for the local shelters. Those donating will recieve an additional 'ruffle ticket' to enter the drawing.


  • Dogs should be current in vaccinations.
  • No dogs under six months of age.
  • No female dogs in heat.
  • No aggressive dogs.
  • No more than two dogs per registration/participant.
  • Minors must be accompanied by an adult (18 or older).
  • Keep your dog(s) on a 7-foot or shorter leash at all times.
  • Clean up after your dog(s). (Bags will be provided)
  • Bring your dog(s) only if he or she is well socialized.
  • Walk the course only if you and your pet are in adequate physical condition.
  • Water will be provided for both dogs and people along the course.


Proceeds benefit Pierce County Parks and Recreation's youth programs, including the FREE summer Kidmobile program.
