  • Session I - Hit/Run/Slide: 9:00 am ?12 noon. Cost is $30 per player.
    Players will work on the basic fundamentals of hitting, base running, and
    sliding. Please bring tennis shoes, glove, helmet and bat if available.
  • Session II - Pitch/Catch: 12:30?2:30 pm. Cost is $25 per player.
    Players will work on the basic fundamentals of throwing, receiving
    and mound work techniques. Please bring tennis shoes, glove and
    catchers gear.
  • Session III - Infield/Outfield: 3:00-5:00 pm. Cost is $25 per player.
    Players will work on receiving ground balls, fly balls and working
    within a team concept of infield and outfield defense. Please bring
    tennis shoes, glove and catchers gear.

  • Entry Deadline: Monday, Jan. 21 at 5:00 pm (limited to 30/session).
    Refund Policy: Due to class size restrictions, refunds within 48 hours cannot be honored.

Youth Basketball - Winter/Spring Program

This is strictly a recreation program. There are no tryouts - everyone plays regardless of ability. There are no league championships, and no win-loss records kept. This is not a program for highly skilled players that have previously played together. Registration will be limited to the first 240 children who sign up on a first come-first serve basis The fee is $40.00 per child. Registration after the evening signup will be conducted on a space available basis.

  • For boys and girls ages 5-8.
  • Thursday, March 27, 2008, 5:30-6:15 pm at the Lakewood Community Center. Registration forms are available at the Lakewood Community Center the night of registration.
  • Fee is $40 per child.
    • Fee includes team t-shirt, certificate of participation, player's basketball clinic, and 6-7 games.

Girls Fastpitch Clinic
Saturday, February 9, 2008
$30/player

Hitting and defensive skills as well as coaching techniques will be emphasized in this clinic geared to female fastpitch players ages 8-18 (4th-12th grade). Players will rotate in small groups and receive attention in such areas as basic fundaments, hitting, base running, bunting, and fielding. Bring cleats, tennis shoes, glove and bat if available.

The clinic will be conducted under the leadership of Rick Noren, Pacific Lutheran University head fastpitch coach who begins his third season at the helm. Formerly an assistant fastpitch coach at the University of Washington, Noren's club finished in third place at the NAIA National Championships last year.

Girls Fastpitch League

Competitive and recreational fastpitch leagues for girls will be offered for players ages 10-19. USSSA rules with Park Department modifications will be used. Participating teams in the past have come from Gig Harbor, Puyallup, South Hill, Edgewood, University Place, Lakewood, Summit, Graham, Parkland, Spanaway and Roy.

Kidz Love Soccer, Inc. Program - This instructional program will introduce you and your child to the world?s most popular game! Learn the skills and techniques to participate with other players in games, at school and on teams. Participants should bring their own knee guards. Taught by Kidz Love Soccer staff.

First time students can learn the basics of skateboarding to safely navigate through Sprinker Recreation Center's expansive skate park. Intermediate instruction will show students how to safely maneuver through the obstacles of the skate park. Helmets are required on ALL participants.

About the instructor: Seth Ivers has been riding and learning about skateboarding for 15 years. He has numerous teaching experiences as well as knowledge about equipment and competitions.

There are no try-outs; everyone plays regardless of ability. This is strictly a recreational program. There are no league championships, and no win/loss records will be kept. Boys and girls will play on the same team. Practices and games will be at Spanaway Lake Park ball fields. Registration will be limited to the first 240 children who sign-up on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • For boys and girls ages 5-6
  • Evening registration will take place at Sprinker Recreation Center on June 3, 2008 from 4:30-6:00 p.m.
  • Practices and games are during the weekdays. Games are played in July.
  • Fee is $40 per child. Registration forms are available at the Sprinker Center the night of registration.

Coach Pitch for Boys & Girls - This league is also designed to provide each participant with an enjoyable, safe, and positive experience while learning respect, and sportsmanship. This program will continue to teach the basics of baseball/softball.

There are no try-outs; everyone plays regardless of ability. This is strictly a recreational program. There are no league championships, and no win/loss records will be kept. Boys and girls will play on the same team. Registration will be limited to the first 225 children who sign-up on a first-come, first-served basis. Practices and games will be at either Sprinker Recreation Center or Gonyea Playfield.

  • For boys and girls ages 7-8
  • Evening registration will take place at Sprinker Recreation Center on June 3, 2008 from 4:30-6:00 p.m.
  • Practices and games are during the weekdays. Games are played in July.
  • Fee is $40 per child.
  • Registration forms are available at the Sprinker Center the night of registration.
