It's not actually a room, but several that contain the evidence for the Pierce County Sheriff's Department and Tacoma Police Department. In 1977 both departments merged into one property room. It is staffed by Pierce County Sheriff's Department employees. Funding comes from both police departments. The property room covers approximately 32,000 square feet, taking up nearly half of the basement in the County-City Building in Tacoma, in addition to a large off-site warehouse.
