Disaster First Aid- For members of PC NET and Map Your Neighborhood


Disaster First Aid- For members Neighborhood Preparedness Teams
Learn skills and get hands-on experience in how to perform immediate triage, and use disaster first aid following an event. A First Aid Certificate is awarded, no CPR training is provided unless indicated at registration. It is recommended to take CPR before this class. Contact your local fire district for CPR courses.

 All Disaster First Aid classes are on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  We may be able to provide a course for a single PC NET Neighborhood or Map Your Neighborhood if 16 people commit to the course.

Psychological First Aid - New curriculum!

All residents are welcome!


People's reactions to crisis vary. Learn which reactions are harmful and how some are actually beneficial. Take away some important tools you can use to connect with affected people and provide immediate emotional support following an emergency.

If interested in having this class in your community email peggy.lovellford@piercecountywa.gov  The course is taught by experienced crisis chaplains, it is a non religious course. The reviews from the course are regularly positive!

Communications - Radio 



FRS/Walkie-Talkie Class- 
 Understand the basics of using radio communications in a disaster and get hands-on practice with others in the group. This is a great way to get comfortable using the “walkie-talkie” style of communication in a disaster. Information on how to get a HAM license is included. Time: 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Walkie-talkie classes are available upon request from neighborhoods  with emergency teams with PC NET or Map Your Neighborhood. Contact pcdemOutreach@co.pierce.wa.us
