Wheeled All-Terrain Vehicles

Wheeled all-terrain vehicles (WATVs) will be allowed on select roads in unincorporated Pierce County starting Jan. 1, 2019. 

Their use is expected to support economic development, encourage tourism, and enhance recreational opportunities for Pierce County residents.

Off-road and on-road WATV licenses are required per RCW 46.09, and can be obtained through the Washington State Department of Licensing. Visit the the department's WATV page to learn more and read descriptions of approved vehicles.

Safety first
You must follow the posted speed limit and follow all applicable traffic laws. If you violate a traffic law or operate a WATV outside the approved routes, you may be cited per RCW 46.09.455.

The below map shows the roads that have been approved as of Jan. 1, 2019. Additional roads may be added over time. Check back to view the latest map and routes.
