Protective Payee

What is a Representative Payment Program?
Social Security's Representative Payment Program provides benefit payment management for beneficiaries who are incapable of managing their Social Security or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments.  When friends or family members are not able to serve as payees, a qualified organization is considered.  If you are concerned about someone's ability to manage their benefits call the SSA at 1-800-772-1213 to request an appointment to discuss your concerns.  The SSA website has more information.
